- Parents stay offsite — hotel, cabin, or campground nearby
- Bring layers: warm days, cool evenings, pop-up rain
- Pin trading is a huge part of the experience — plan for it (150+ pins is common)
- Opening ceremonies are "core memory" material — don't skip them
- Cash for small vendors onsite is useful
